I already have a script to does a one-image menu with spumux for dvdauthor, by taking a JPG as background and a 4-color PNG as buttons. Whipping up a shell script that takes a folder with images, adds the same back / forward button PNG to each, and puts the config in an XML file for spumux and the XML file for dvdauthor would be a thing of fifteen minutes perhaps. But that of course depends on already having a box with dvdauthor / spumux / mjpegtools / transocde / toolame stuff installed and somewhat knowing them.
