Personal information - no matter how obfuscated. Never a good idea. You have no idea who might be reading this. And in case you didn't get the idea from all the other posts, your friend needs to CALL THE COPS immediately! I cannot imagine not calling in the cops as soon as he/she suspected something was wrong, or at the very latest when $2000 extra was taken! The people got his account number and forged a check - it's that easy. CALL THE COPS!
