Geneva Convention is not THE document for basic by DesertRat66 2006-12-13 14:01:47
human rights. The Geneva Convention outlines the conduct of Armed Forces during time of war. The Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols are part of international humanitarian law – a whole system of legal safeguards that cover the way wars may be fought and the protection of individuals.

They specifically protect people who do not take part in the fighting (civilians, medics, chaplains, aid workers) and those who can no longer fight (wounded, sick and shipwrecked troops, prisoners of war).

THE document that has been a model of human rights for more than 2 centuries remains the U.S. Constitution.

Yes, the U.S. has a lot of murders. Interstingly enough while the number of firearms here has increased the number of crimes committed with them has decreased. All your claim illustrates is that Australia is not the United States.
