The big problem with OSS for us, still, by Jeff_UK2006-12-13 10:22:35
Similar here. by Khaar 2006-12-13 10:49:48
A while ago we had to decide whether we'll move to .NET or to PHP (from ASP we currently use). The decision was to use primarily .NET, but continue to support PHP.

Another time there was a discussion if we should look toward using an open-source CMS or continue developing our own. Again, the final agreement was our own version. OSS is all good and fine, but modifying an alien software to our needs and those of our clients is somewhat comparable to creating our own solution in terms of difficulty, time and effective quality. Plus we can support our own software far better than one we don't know 100%. Yes, it's relatively easy to learn 95%, but it's those last elusive 5% that really count.
