As I've just done in this subject line, one instance of the word 'mods' let's a variety of people know that there's a problem. If this post lets 4-6 people know there is an issue by email, 4-6 people calling for the mods means 16-36 emails sent informing us of the problem. Further, if you post our nicknames, we'll also get emails. And adding people who just email or IM us when there is an emergency, often we spend more time cleaning up emails and IMs than we do dealing with the emergency in the first place. While all that's sure to get our attention...let's make sure it's an emergency before going to that extreme, ok?
This reminds me of when I worked helpdesk and we'd have an outage and a goodly percentage of our 30k users would call the helldesk all at once. You wouldn't want me to equate you with those dialup users, would you?
In this case, it was an emergency that deserved attention, and thanks for the notification (though I saw it on the board before I saw emails or IMs). This message is just to avoid overcontacting us.
Thx,
