indirectly at least - she did a summer working with Bechtel Bettis, one of the Navy's contractors in Pittsburgh.
She had a lot of qualms, though, about helping to design systems used for warfare, even if those would have themselves been nonviolent designs like ship designs. Thankfully that's not the direction her studies eventually took her, so she didn't end up having to make that call. I'm sure she would have the same reservations, though, about working for the Navy directly.
She has her undergraduate nuclear degree already, and is working towards the master's degree. The job she'll be taking in Pittsburgh is going to be one of safety analysis. |
