Why are Aussies so against nuclear power? by shminux2006-11-20 21:46:41
For some, it goes something like this: by fudje2006-11-20 22:08:25
"The fish glow. The water glows." by run.dll 2006-11-20 22:29:25
Silly.

The "glow" from nuclear radiation is mostly from cerenkov radiation. A fish with anywhere near enough radioactive material in its body to generate visible cerenkov radiation could not possibly live. There is nowhere on earth where the naturally occuring background radiation has been shown to have adverse health effects. Google Kerala+radiation, or go here.

When I worked for AECL (calculating neutron cross-sections for reactor components) we used to hear these stories all the time. Rubbish.
