Really? Quakers founded Pennsylvania by Silverfire 2006-11-20 19:37:34
And Quakers are, all, conscientious objectors based upon the tenets of their religion. They and a few other groups are why we HAVE the term conscientious objectors. Not because they are cowards but quite the contrary are brave enough to stick to the tenets of their faith in the face of death.

So how was this country founded solely on riflemen again? Check out this term for some clarity: Peace Testimony: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peace_Testimony

Most conscientious objectors who are drafted become medics or, as my great uncle in WW2, Corps of Engineers. And some are willing to do that. But there are many who will never pick up a gun, for any reason. So if they serve back here in the states in a non-military capacity for what would normally be their term of draft service thats fine with me.
