a simple thanks can mean "thanks for reading this to the end", rather than the "thanks in advance for ...". Not at all unreasonable or presumptive. And particularly appropriate wrt/ an email.

So how about "thanks for entertaining my request", which they have clearly done by reaching the end of the message.
