question there: by subbywan 2006-11-20 14:21:20
for clarification:

Is that Amish as in religious beliefs or cultural upbringing? What if someone converted to Amish'ism?

The two situations I'm thinking of are 1) someone born and raised Amish who goes out into the world and doesn't return to the group, but starts a life away from them and 2) Someone born and raised non-Amish, but who moves there and takes up the lifestyle/beliefs (why they do it isn't important, ie, I don't care if they did it because they actually believe or because they're trying to dodge the draft ... just assume they're successfully accepted by the community).
