I hate banks. by decius 2006-11-20 13:55:56
I bought a cashier's check about a month ago, mailed it off, and got nothing. The recipient doesn't have any record of receiving it. I try to verify if it has been cashed yet with the bank:
The service is not available on their website (reasonable)
1st phone rep tells me I have to go into a branch. (1)
1st branch rep tells me I have to call cust service.
2nd phone rep tells me I need the account number of the check. Which is only on the check, not on the receipt. Becomes arguementitive with me about it. (2)(3)
2nd branch rep gets on the phone with 2nd phone rep. Argues a short time, gives up.
2nd branch rep calls central checks herself, provides check number, gets date check cleared.

One hour later, the 5 minute task has been completed.
numbers in () indicate major customer service failures by individuals. Failures caused by policies are not noted.
Bank Of America. Higher standards.
