is that apparently many online banks still use a simple user/password login? Most online Dutch banks have used a challenge/response system for years, with a personal calculator device to provide the proper and time-variable response. On top of that, the device itself is secured by a PIN code. I know my father already had such a device > 10 years ago, when he dialled directly into the bank's computer. Mine still looks (and probably is) the same, although the codes have been made longer over the years.
