I will never voluntarily choose it, though. Ever. I vowed many years ago to never have anything to do with the military, and I've stuck with it.

It's my belief that my family has done it's fair share, between Grandad serving for almost half his life and dying young at 41, and Grandpa almost serving in WW2, and getting lucky (peace treaty was signed the day he was due to show up for duty), and spending the rest of his good years as a country cop. And that's not counting the rest of the family members who've served in one fashion or another.
