...it's the hormones in the semen...I don't think those really affect anything in a pregnant woman. It's the hormones released in the woman's orgasm. IIRC, oxytocin is the natural hormone that triggers labor and it can be release by a woman's orgasm. Also, the muscular contractions involved in an orgasm can affect the same uterine muscle groups involved in labor contractions.

The muscular calesthentics can create enough stress to rupture the placental membrane, but that won't happen unless the cervix has already opened and the membrane is significantly effaced (or thinned). If the woman has those conditions early (and the doctor will be able to tell from the routine pregnancy exams), then it would be best to ask the doctor about the risks of intercourse.
