I can't imagine why you'd want to become a 'Nation of Riflemen.' The military is, at some level, an organisation whose purpose is to kill some people to protect others. How this can be seen as anything other than a necessary evil is beyond me. This is one of the reasons I respect military people in the first place. It must take a certain amount of moral courage to perform evil you know to be necessary.
