Unless the doctor has indicated a problem with an incompetent cervix (in which case almost all hanky panky is verboten) there is nothing you can possibly do to the hurt either the fetus or the mother. I recommend the book 'What to Expect when you're Expecting.' It covers pretty much every question you'll come up with with fairly sound advice and a relative minimum of preachiness.
