What kitchen equipment and supplies are essential? by Phoon2006-11-20 01:18:14

Chicago Cutlery then, you can find at Walmart. by esbita 2006-11-20 05:45:22
In college I got a nice 5" Chicago Cutlery kitchen knife for cheap. Later when I graduated I got an 8" chef knife on closeout, quite cheap. It's a sharp and decent knife, unlike Farberware (bleh- you're begging for stitches if you buy that). Henckels it is not. Calaphon it is not. But I've cut myself with Farberware and yet to cut myself with my nicer stuff.

You can get by with cheap pots and pans if you must, but do NOT cheap out on knives. A dull, cheap knife is a dangerous knife. And for 90% of your stuff a chef's knife and a 5" knife will do ya. A bread knife and paring knife are nice, but you can expand later as money and sale prices permit.
