I mean, that's what imparts the kinetic energy to the bullet in the first place; a hand-thrown bullet is about as effective as a small rock, if that. (yeah, I know - the primer cap ignited the powder, the firing pin fired the primer cap, the hammer smacked the firing pin, the trigger tripped the hammer, the finger pulled the trigger, and we're back where we started. :)
