Anyone considering a Zoombox? by Kickstart2006-11-19 12:55:59
Thought about it, yes. =) by shadowsystems 2006-11-05 20:18:48
I just read a review about it earlier today, and thought "This might be something my son would enjoy in his new room."
(He's at a loss for space at his mom's new place, so having his *entire ceiling* available as a screen for his tv/movies/PS1/PS2/GC needs might be a VERY good way to go.)
The only thing that concerned me was the lumens (very low) and the fact that the bulb is only rated for about 1K hours.
With a higher-rated bulb, it jumps to 15K-20K hours, so why such a LOW life for a bulb that runs at 1/10 the temp?
Sure, you can buy replacements at local hardware stores, but if I have to buy one a month, that quickly devalues the worth of the machine.
(I can either spend $500 on a "good" unit with a bulb that'll last a few months at a time, or $300 on a unit that'll have me replacing bulbs often enough to qualify for "Gold Member" status at my local hardware store? That's a no-brainer, I'll spend the extra $200 for a unit that doesn't stink!)
