Keep in mind if you're making a PBS* vs. BBC comparison, that the BBC is funded by compulsory TV license fees, and that they _never_ have to beg their viewers/listeners for money.

Also keep in mind that, from the other side of the ocean, we only get to see or hear about the best 5% of what they put out... there's plenty of not-so-good stuff that never makes it over here.

* I'm assuming, since the earlier comments were about TV shows, that you meant PBS... the R in NPR stands for radio.
