It's no longer a matter of doing whatever it takes to get the job done. You already failed (or more often the project manager or others above you failed [not that that's where the blame will go :-(]), now it's just a matter of how bad. Being the miracle worker can be exiting (in a twisted sort of way), how exited can you get about being the best failure you can be?
