Us Americans get to vote on Tuesday. I found this "General Election Voter Guide" for the 4th Congressional District (of Kansas).
- I wonder about the "Kansas Voters Values" group that put it together as, though every candidate was supposedly asked a standard set of questions (which are included in this document), apparently only Republicans bothered to reply.
- In the two exceptions to this, across the board, the Reps and Dems have precisely opposite responses.
- Though I have views that do not match "Republican" or "Democrat" party lines, no third party candidate is listed. Since third parties also have less money to work with (I'm assuming that's the reason), I don't even know if we have third parties to choose from, much less the names of any candidate.
I know I need to do more research, but I'm ready to throw this guide out the window. According to this, the Incumbent Democratic candidate for governor (yes, we have a Democrat governor in Kansas) "supports taxpayer funded obscenity in colleges". What kind of statement is that? I doubt that anyone in public office would come out and say "We need to have professors at state colleges use profanities in classes more often. And let's tack on school-sponsored strip clubs." I think not.
Forget red-state, blue-state: I want a purple state! Or yellow, or chartreuse.
