And that is not the point, either. But on to answering your questions:
If you insist on demonizing people simply because of their beliefs than aren't YOU the problem?
I'm not demonizing anyone. I explicitly said that there are posts that make this place worse for me. I didn't talk about users.
Should people be censored because they say things you disagree with? Not at all. Nevertheless, I feel uncomfortable reading something like "they are not humans", to say the least. More uncomfortable than I would with an ad hominem attack against me, btw. Personally, I find it strange that such things go widely unnoticed. You may disagree, but I stand by that.
And yes, it IS about the disagreement. If you felt the same way, you never would have brought it up, but it would still have been just as 'wrong-think'. I concede that it is about a special disagreement. But there is a reason that I didn't pich some random posts advocating death penalty. Though I do disagree on that, too, this is about dehumanising humans. For me, that is crossing a line I'd rather not see crossed.
Personally, I think that certain people give up the right to be treated humanely when they commit certain crimes against others. Do you also think that they stop being humans?
I do not support the death penalty, or vigilante justice, but when inter-gang warfare ends in massive deaths on both sides, I shed no tears. I don't expect you to do a happy dance, either. See the difference?
A question to you: If it were possible to eliminate every single evil person from the face of the earth without any danger of any innocent people being harmed, would you agree to that? Short answer: no. Somehow more longish answer: I don't think that there are 100% evil persons. Neither do I think there are 100% good persons. And more importantly, who could decide who's who? And to illustrate the specific problem of your question: wouldn't those who commit that mass murder become "evil" themselves? Ethically because of the mass murder and practically because one has to be "evil" to commit such an act, no matter how good the intentions might be? |
