It's a spray that tastes terrible. Gives them an *immediate* negative reinforcement when they try to chew on whatever it's sprayed on. Electrical cords, shoes, remote controls....
For chewing on hands, the best correction is a hand around their mouth, holding it shut for a moment, and a good firm "No!" An adult dog will put their mouth around a puppy's mouth to tell them not to bite, and growl a little, so we go with language they understand. Doesn't hurt, but it definitely gets the message across. I amaze new puppy owners sometimes by how quickly I get their puppies to stop chewing on me just during the first exam. :-) And of course, making sure they have something they *are* allowed to chew on is vital, too. They have a *very* strong drive to chew! |
