Color and consoles by UGuardian 2006-11-05 10:09:13
I've messed with a number of console applications in Linux and now I'm just plain curious. The majority of the ones I've seen so far do not use color. 16 colors are available, so why doesn't anyone use them?

Some of the programs I've used are ncurses programs yet do not use color.

I do understand that the colorset is determined by the terminal and so one can't predict what colors display all of the time. Aside from that I don't see any reason not to use pretty colors.

Note: Nethack uses colors. It can't be that evil of a practice.

The blink attribute is another matter. ;)
