That society is focused on revenge as it's justice system. You did something to me, now we will fine, imprison or kill you. An eye of an eye. As oppposed to the justice system we have in the Netherlands. Duth law does punish people for their wrongdoings, but it always focuses on rehabilitation and return to society. The belief in the initial good of people and the 'second chance' are important factors here. The death penalty is a way to get rid of people that are nuisance to society. If a government does that, I feel it has stooped as low as the criminals it has convicted through it's justice system.
