Is your camera set for Auto White balance? by uf_dpc 2006-11-05 02:09:27
While this is good off hand, sometimes it can get `confused' if there is a lot of yellow or orange in the picture. If you are using manual white balance, visit the local photography shop and pick up a white balance card. This is a nutral gray card that you hold infront of the camera and the meter can take reading off of it to set the white balance based on the existing lighting.

As mentioned, RawShooter will let you do some colour correction, colour ballance, and tempreture corrections in the computer after the shoot. Keeping a journal is a good step, and most digital cameras store EXIF data with the picture which will tell you what settings you used on the picture. (saves alot of time writing).

Once all caught up with the topics I'll look in to putting together a "what went wrong" posting of common problems (lord knows I have enough pictures to draw from) :-) good suggestion.
