I'm about 10-15kg (22-33lb) over what I want to be - a weight I haven't been at since 2000. This year I've been working on my diet, partly in order to eat better generally, partly for weight loss and partly because my diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome means I need to be careful. So I've basically given up soft drinks, am drinking more water and fruit juice, and I'm being better at cooking good food for myself rather than eating out all the time (my budget also appreciates that). Lately it's been tough, though, as my bestfriend left her boyfriend and stayed with me for a few weeks and comfort food was high on the menu :\ I need to get back into my good habits now she's left.
I also really need to get back to the gym. I'm unfit and this flab isn't going to go anywhere if I don't start working out. I'm really going to have to start building a gym habit, asap - I want to be going 3 times a week, either to classes for an hour or working out on my own for an hour or so.
I'd like to set some clear goals for myself, but I don't know what is reasonable to expect. I'd like my weight loss to be somewhat gradual - as a result of improving diet and going to the gym regularly - I want to build good habits that I can keep up for longer than the time it'll take to see the results I want. So, is 10kg by Christmas (a month and a half) reasonable, without drastic diet and exercise measures? (10kg=22lb) |
