Humanity or Mankind? by Illiad2006-10-26 11:49:25
I would go with "mankind" by cptspith 2006-10-26 14:18:32
because, I also believe in completely ignoring PC whining whenever possible, and it has the "feeling" of being more inclusive of all peoples than "humanity". Don't ask me why. Really, I haven't the foggiest.

But "humanity" also tends to elicit a flavour (a good one, but not universally applicable) to some degree, probably because of the ability to use "humanity" as a person's (people's) better nature - "Appeal to his/their humanity".

Mankind seems more neutrally to refer to a population (even if it's everybody) than "humanity". Just my 1/50th of a dollar.
