Rather, a wide lasso, and nothing but air. Forget about right and left for a moment; Let's consider the concept of conservative vs liberal. Conservative meaning less goverment regulation (how about the ability to own property?) whereas liberal government in recent years has meant more goverment involvement (regulation) in local affairs (ie; less personal freedom, not more at higher cost, not less). Incidentally the Bill of Rights and Constitution were intended to lay out the foundation of a democratic republic, with is far different from a pure democracy. If in doubt, try studying ancient Greece, they had one that didn't work out too well. Finally, wheter a monarchy, parliament, congress or president (dictators need not apply), is at the head of the government isn't doesn't necessarily determine if the government is conservative or liberal. It could go either way.
