I had the opportunity to listen to a recording (as in "experience of the act of recording"; not only the resulting data media) of classical orchestra music which ended up in vinyl (back in the 90ies) and a lossless digital format version (that was BEFORE FLAC; it was some format coming with SONY digital recording equipment).
The recording master experimented in parallel with new ways to put the microphones into the room.
So my conclusion is that mixing and the way you tape the music (esp. microphones and how you put them in space) has a much bigger impact than the resulting format/playing device. And that was before the usage of magical tricks of filters, equalizer and other no-nos of authentic recording.... :-)
This is even more true for tube amplifiers. Yes, voices (esp. female voices) do somehow sound "better" but it is actually LESS authentic: it improves something where orginally was nothing. That's like using a special filter to enhance things.
(Note: I do NOT claim this for vinyl; I'm well aware about the potential advantages this way of recording has.)
