| The thing is, that "RealBeauty" campaign is a lie. |

A bunch of anthropologists did a study on the female form. They used simple outlines of different body types on one page and tested this on people all over the world, including Amazon Basin tribes. They found that there was a certain ratio between hips, waist and breasts that was almost uniformly found to be the most attractive.
It's something genetic that causes the male of the species to be attracted to that form. I'd provide a link, but it was in dead-tree form (or maybe it was on The Discovery Channel back when it was cool.) It might be similar to the way that a newborn can be comforted by a paper plate with a roughly drawn "face" on it hangin over a crib.
A lot of the things done to make women more attractive to men are exagerations of natural attributes. Why are your lips and nipples pink? For the same reasons that a female baboon's butt* get red at certain times of the year.
The lengthening of the neck? There is a tribe in Africa that does that with rings. Bigger eyes? More expressive, younger looking.
The goal of the people preparing a model for pictures is to make her look as beautiful as possible. The goal of a woman picking out a pretty skirt is to make herself as attractive as possible.
That group is merely annoyed with the distance some people will go to make themselves attractive.
*How many of you have ever heard "Baboons butt" used in a scientific argument before. |
