(that no other language beats it across-the-board, that is) - every language has its strengths. The real question is, does language B do most of what language A does, a lot better? IMO, the answer in this case is yes, but then I'd say that about any OO language compared to C++ - it's just a mess, trying to do manual memory management in an OO language. Especially when things like operator overloading force you to either be extremely inefficient or invite memory leaks.
