      Anecdotal "maybe"... =/ by shadowsystems 2006-09-25 19:39:11
I had an old Trident card that kept giving funky video shredding on me.
Latest drivers didn't fix it.
Changed out the card, and the issue still happened.
Moved the card to a new system, & it followed the card.
I finally *LOOKED* at the pins on the card, and noticed something kinda... blackish.
?O.o? WTH???
I don't know what it was, but it was almost like if someone had scraped gum off a black shoe sole & applied it to the pins on the card.
Check the plugs (in both system) and the black stuff was there, too.
Spent an hour cleaning them all, plugged the card back into the orignal system, and VIOLA! No more shredding...
I have NO idea why it didn't cause system crashes, but the fact that the pins were dirty caused the video to go wonky.
*Shrugs* =J
