Timonium, so I have a pretty good comparison. We ended up paying nearly double for a slightly smaller apartment than the one we left behind. I can understand that the two areas may have shifted a bit relative to each other in the last five years, but still Chicagoland is more expensive. The "suburbs of a major city" thing outweighs the "not located on a coast" thing.
