I get a question from my supervisor by hadji 2006-09-25 13:14:54
regarding how we can track a certain subset of users in Active Directory. He asks me if we can create a new field. I said, "Can't we just create a group?"

"You mean an OU?"

"No, a group."

"How would you do that?"

"Just create a group."

"What do you mean by group?"

"You know, like all the other groups we have in Active Directory."

"You mean, with accounts?"

"Umm . . . yeah."

"Okay, you want to do that?"

I'm at home, so I ask him, "Can't you do it? Just call it $suggested_name or something like that."

"Okay, I can do that."

We say bye and hang up. Then I get a call back, and he asks, "You said a group, not an OU, right?"

"Right."

He's not usually like this. He knows enough about AD to know what groups are, how to create them, why to create them, and how to add members to them.
