...I have to say that I have written my share of interesting comments in the code, including items similart to the "UGLY HACK" comment.

Code written under the burden of deadlines or under the stress of trying to piece together different apps that weren't written together or following the same dev guideliness can lead to quite entertaining comments. A s/w architect friend of mine used to put "find me" type comments into his code to make sure those of us on his team were paying attention and doing due diligence to our own coding.

Having said all that, I believe it's possible that the comments/code COULD have been changed as the zip file were passed around. I dunno what that would actually accomplish, but I'm sure that there are a lot of folks who wouldn't pass up the chance to add their own twist to Microsoft's posterity.
