They have no weapons training. They have authority at the border but no way to enforce it, hell, even our (Vancouver's) Transit Police are armed! (and it took 1 year to arm them IIRC) They are much closer to police then a paramilitary organization, I don't believe they even have a Rank/Command structure, however. Our government has approached the border like the stereotypical Canadian "We don't do anything bad so no one will do anything bad to us". I find it outrageous that our borders are "defended" by people who have no ability to enforce the power they have.
