The last time I talked to a postman about it was about 3 years ago so it may have changed since then...

I realize that they Have to deliver it but, What they didn't tell you is that they are the ones that provide the list of occupied/usable Addresses to the "nondirect" companies. :) Who else could provide it? If they just sent mail blindly to all addresses the vacant houses and empty PO boxes would get full.

My box at my apartment was empty until I turned in my form stating that someone was living there...suddenly... I was getting junk mail within 2 weeks. Now I get all kinds of pamphlets from grocery stores and such. I get about 5 actual letters a month and the rest is junk that needs to be recycled.
