Reading the TLP, I was going to say most were "people I met and fell for" but further consideration shows an extended time element. My past relationships -- the ones that that didn't last -- fell closer to your "promoted" definition -- people I was friends for some time first before officially dating. I initally "met and fell for" mrsandyz. We got to know each other during the dating process. Because the dating and engagement lasted three years, we were friends by the end of it. (Considering the engagement process, though, "comrades-in-arms" might apply too :)
