Music question: by Tyop2006-09-25 02:38:03
An aspect not already mentioned is by moddermonster 2006-09-25 05:09:14
the kind of music that is to be played on it. For synthie music get a synthie. For piano music get a piano. Providing a piano to a child that is eager to play syntheshizer is as useless as providing a trumpet to her -- it's all about motivation.

That said, analog pianos have the better sound (except maybe real expensive electric ones (~5kEUR)) but digital ones are much cheaper -- at our local music store you pay 700-1200 EUR for a usable electric one with 88 keys with hammer mechanics (sorta authentic feel) while mechanical ones start around 3000 EUR or so (IIRC). So for the price of an ordinary upright piano you can get a ultra-cool stage keyboard with decent piano sound, decent hammond sounds, 88 hammer keys and no loudspeaker :-)
