Music question: by Tyop 2006-09-25 02:38:03
My wife and I wish to encourage our children to learn to play an instrument. Flute, guitar and piano are among the obvious possibilities, but our opinions differ when it comes to "piano".

My wife would like us to get a upright piano, because of it's analog nature, and she seems to think that it sounds nicer.. I really can't dissagree, but I can't help thinking, that if we buy a (used) piano, it will be out of tune. Tuning comes at a cost too. What will TCO of a piano be versus for example a (decent) used keyboard? I can't help thinking that the keyboard has more voices, and perhaps even sequencing capabilities. And you can plug headphones into a keyboard, so you don't terrorize the whole house vith your "playing"...

Opinions?
