Many games use the action or use key for character interaction. Even HL2 did on a limited basis. Another way of looking at it is are you playing that game as you (Arachnid) or are you playing as Gordon Freeman? If you are indeed Gordon then some in-game cinematics where Gordon is Gordon isn't all that bad.
