The first line of the book proper (after the extremely random prologue-ish part) in Douglas Coupland's "JPod" is:
"'Oh God. I feel like a refugee from a Douglas Coupland novel.'"
O.o
Well, it's *almost* stream-of-consciousness. (Actually I think the line above refers the character feeling like a part of Coupland's "Microserfs" novel, to which "JPod" is sort of a sequel.)
Going back to the 'memo' posted on my LJ today and the comments posted under it, it makes me wonder why it is that *very* avant-garde and conceptual forms of literature have gained acceptance in the public eye, while that has not happened in other forms of fine art (e.g. abstract paintings and sculpture, "classical" music (as opposed to popular), and theatre). |
