This has to be the most annoying Hard Drive by Freakazoid 2006-09-18 15:38:17
problem i've encountered...
basically it comes down to this: the drive's intermittent, but only under windows it seems. I've run any number of tests on it from maxtor's diagnostic software (anything from full SMART tests to full read tests) and it works fine. Get it into windows and it suddenly gets flaky. Screwy
said "drive" is a maxtor 40gig (yeah yeah, I know. Maxtor, but with a $0 budget you use what you find) that's the primary slave in my Home Theater PC (that mostly just captures programs and does cpu gruntwork (video encoding) for me) The intention for the drive was to provide extra storage as it's currently running on a 29Gig drive. (the 40 was the original drive, went flaky so I just plopped the 29 in so I can deal with it later, well, it's later)
