i'm wanting to map the mn ren fest by unjust 2006-09-18 10:33:41
mostly for curiousity, but in part to help improve safety services response times.

i suspect the longest point a to b is ~1/2 mile, but we often get reports of a lost child/theft at a booth #, and while most of our team that information will translate into a rough location, a lot of folks only know that the 600s are one particular island of shops and it's a big area to sort through on a 20k crowd day.

the -plan- is to walk site with a gps unit (once i find one) log shop #'s and coords (and altitude if i'm bored/find somethign accurate) and the drop all of that data into autocad to give us the first ever scale map of the place.

then, in -theory- dispatch can search a dwf for the shop name/number which will highlight and they can say "three shops from $landmark towards $landmark2" or whatever.
