The Spamhaus folks are NOT good-guys by archnerd2006-11-19 12:55:59
So you ARE a spammer, right? by sysangel 2006-09-18 07:25:43
Since you choose to keep an ISP that blatantly continued to provide services to spammers, after public notification of said activity, you should be known by that company you keep.
Get with the damn program. If you want to keep a 'cheap' ISP, do so, but by all means realize that your great cost savings come at the expense of others. Your ISP chooses to get spammers money, and take yours as well. Legitimate ISPs don't get extra money from spammers for ignoring complaints, allowing network abuse to continue, or failing to monitor their network properly.
Other responsible network providers and network administrators bear the cost of having that spammer connected, and you get that 'cheap' connectivity because of it.
Your ISP is stealing from others, and got caught. You feel that because you deal with crooks, you should somehow be exempted from all this.
I call bovine extrement on your statement about the SBL, and other DNSBL operators. "I don't find that answer terribly responsible." Your ISP isn't being responsible, nor are you in continuing to support them. YOU aren't being responsible in your choice of ISPs, and you are bitching because others, beyond your control, are holding you and your ISP responsible.
Perhaps 10 years ago, you might have claimed 'innocence' in the whole spam thing. Not in today's Internet. You are now a known party to their criminal activity since they got outed, and you just want to bitch about someone else calling your 'cheap' ISP dirty. You can either cleanup, or live with your 'cheap and dirty' Internet.
