ATTN: Statistics Ufies by vectorz2006-09-18 04:04:33
It really depends on the experiment, by Jeff_uk2006-09-18 04:27:34
Alternatively you could use the interquartile mean by Jeff_uk2006-09-18 04:33:31

What about grouping? by anymouse2006-09-18 05:53:34
They probably do by vectorz 2006-09-18 06:59:18
as they are grouped even if they shouldn't. They basically mean that something is messing with one corner of my experiment.

I just spent 1.5 hours with my boss 'quicky' discussing possible causes, problems and solutions during the handling (Ok, plate was dirty wasn't on the list, but I'll add that :) ). Some variation will always occur though, as it is a biological assay.

But my basic question still is: Should the median or the mean be used in this context?
Even the statistics books basically say 'depends on the experiment'. Fine, but based on what should I decide?
