. There never was any privacy there for such system to take it away. And if it has any benefits, then overall it has benefits with practically no new privacy concerns.
This *is* only in public places (that's "public", as in "not private"), so I don't see what the fuss is about.

Probably the most accurate description of it would be "police officers telecommuting", except that operators probably don't even have police jurisdiction. And I've never heard anything wrong with *that*.
