The D70 is good, but if the budget is a little steep give the D50 a look. Can do most of what the D70 can do and some aspects are slightly better. I really like mine. I decided against the EOS350 for two reasons: More noise then the D50 at high sensitivities and I found the body too small to hold comfortably. And it was another £100... I bought the 18-70mm 3.5-4.5 lens, which is great. I'm now planning on getting a longer lens.
